Matthew 6:19 and Bitcoin

Matthew 6:19 says,

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”

True then. Still true now.

But Matthew didn’t see Bitcoin coming.

He warned against fragile wealth. Things that decay. Things that can be taken.

He wasn’t wrong…

Property rots and rusts. Cash gets devalued, and Gold can be confiscated.

But Bitcoin doesn’t rust, and it doesn’t rot.

And if you properly hold your keys, it can’t be stolen.

Sure, you can’t take it with you when you die…

But while you’re here, it suffers no decay because it lives in the digital realm.

That doesn’t make it sacred. But it makes it unique.

And maybe that’s something to think about, especially in a world where almost everything can be taken away from you.
