Not out of hostility.
But as a strategic reset.
The country has reached a saturation point.
Our infrastructure is strained.
Our roads are choked.
Our towns are louder, denser, more chaotic.
And it’s not just traffic or noise, it’s culture, affordability, quality of life.
We’re building faster than we can breathe.
Adding more people, more buildings, more cars without any coherent long-term plan.
Closing the borders would give us space to think.
To repair.
To plan with intention.
We could focus on improving what’s already here (housing, healthcare, transport, education) without constantly scrambling to accommodate more.
It’s not about blaming foreigners.
It’s about acknowledging limits.
Malta is small.
And that smallness used to be our strength.
Now it’s being buried under concrete, cranes, and chaos.
A pause is not regression.
It’s how you fix what’s broken, before it breaks for good.
